The political maneuverings of heavenly beings has never been presented in quite this way. The story itself was interesting with the twists and turns that Jack encountered as he completed tasks to save in-betweens. It was a stretch to compare the workings of Heaven and Hell to government bureaucracy but not necessarily incorrect. There were some inconsistencies but nothing that shouldn't be caught in the final edit. All in all, the book was okay but it was distracting to bounce back and forth between earthly happenings and trying to understand the interactions between spiritual beings and their organizational structure.

As a big fan of historical fiction, i found this book to be a little superficial. I was hoping for more substance to the characters and the plot. The winner of the challenge was easy to determine once the prize was announced. The subterfuge alluded to between chapters didn't seem to have anything to do with the actual story put forth and did nothing to develop the plot. The most interesting possible discovery in the entire book was allowed perhaps a page and a half with no further mention. Overall, a simplified story on a topic that is rich in promise.
