What I appreciated in this novel was the quality of the narration. The book is divided into four sections, each of which is narrated by a different character in the story. These voices have great authenticity. There is also a surprising richness to the narration -- in a very natural way, the narrators plumb the depths of their life experience, seemingly without a single wasted word.
