I enjoyed this as I do all books by this author, but... I thought it dragged on a bit, and I was rather tired of all the characters by the end of the book. I thought Amelia's understanding of her disorder(s) was a bit unrealistic, as I've had a daughter go through this and she was not able to verbalise the reasons why, (and she's an intelligent girl). The ending was a surprise I must admit. How the hell would they cope with it???
This should have been a good 'story'. However, despite persevering with it (it was an easy read after all), I just found that it bugged me. The whole process was too quick. Everything happened within a space of two weeks! The accident, the results from the accident reconstruction, the demise of Grace. And Deborah was so damn nice and so perfect (yes, one of the underlying themes), as to make her annoying and unlikeable! .....And at one stage Deborah referred to Grace - her 16 year old high school daughter - as being premed ... at high school? .... is that possible?
Have kept this book as it was a gift from my son, however I didn't really enjoy it, and didn't finish it. Gave up 3/4's of the way through. Is set in an era and country that does not interest me. 1960's Africa.
