This is the first of the Onyx Court series I have delved into. Brennan has really proved herself to be in the same league with Lackey and Turtledove (yes, although there is nothing supernatural in RULED BRITANNIA, I think they are comparable.) Lovely stuff here, and a nice tightly written murder mystery.

This novel starts off in all directions at once, and eventually gets there. My mental illustrations are by R. Crumb, the storyline is Crumb as Brian Aldiss would have scripted Mr. Natural.
