The Emperor and the Endless Palace: A Novel – A Stonewall Book Award Winner and Spicy LGBTQ+ Romantasy by Justinian Huang
not really a big fan
idk it tried to be profound but the way it wrote people and relationships was kinda . eh to me
i did think it was funny the sex was described in period-typical terms for whatever time period they were in

good story, felt like it could have been longer & gone into more detail about certain things

poggers but i don't think i would've picked up this book by myself, not in my usual vein of things. sinbad gets all rights. prose was great.
The first half was quite good. Second half dropped off a bit, but overall, still enjoyed the setting and prose quite a bit.
lighthearted romp.
characters weren't especially well-written and nothing too complex or new happened with the plot, but there's a charm in that, too, i suppose.

this was ok.
the parts that were weakest for me were the lack of consequences for the haracters in the plot/lack of flaws in anequs. anequs has flaws, but they never cause any problems for her; she's a very static character throughout, in that sense. she learns things, but doesn't reallu i can see why it might have been this way, but im not a huge fan of it.
also you could have swapped out the dragons for horse sized cats and most things would have stayed the same. there's not anything particularly different about anequs and kasaqua's bond in the way she interacts with kasaqua; kasaqua has no particular personality or anything at all. this is also personal preference; i like dragons to have a bit more presence in the story and a bit more character to them.

i found the first part much more interesting than the second, but overall i really like the concepts and plot :0
tbh found this quite mid...couldn't really connect to the characters :/
im a big fan of purple prose but this was pushing it lol
didn't really ever fall into it, just not for me i guess
