This book has wonderful poems children can relate to, even if they haven't grown up on a farm. The artwork is extraordinary!
Seymour Simon does a great job of clarifying some misconceptions about wildfires. I myself learned some very interesting new facts about wildfires. The writing was factual, but he used strong verbs to make the facts more interesting to the reader. He even used some metaphors throughout to help the reader better visualize what he was describing. I loved the use of photographs in this book.
Jerry Pallotta found some very interesting facts about common and uncommon animals for this alphabet book. I loved the being surprised by his humorous additions throughout the book and at the end. It made this book more enjoyable than a textbook about animals.
This books is simple, yet amazing! Paul Showers does an outstanding job of creating spellings for sounds that really sound like the real thing. Kids would love to try this out and use invented spellings for sounds. I absolutely love this book!
