My only purpose for reading this book was to watch out for the reappearance of my favourite Buffyverse character: Spike. His relationship with Buffy has spanned over almost 10 years (in Buffy years). Buffy fans are either on Team Angel or Team Spike. I'm a Team Spike fan myself.
Following the discovery of the evil being Twilight's true identity, Buffy receives assistance from her most loyal friend/ally: Spike. After regaining his soul for a second time, Spike arrives in his crewship with his fellow alien buddies and assists Buffy to destroy Twilight (who as it turns out is Buffy's on again/off again lover, Angel, the original soulful vampire).
The Buffy/Angel relationship has been left unanswered, if not entirely destroyed, by the end. However, the Buffy/Spike relationship has grown strong once again, thanks to Spike forever remaining loyal to Buffy, even after making an extreme but hopeless decision to save the world once again.
Buffy and Spike fans only

"When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home".
Opening with a real sense of time and place, The Outsiders is a coming of age tale that is seen through the eyes of 14 year old Ponyboy Curtis. Ponyboy is a greaser. Greaser is slang for someone with Elvis-like hair. His friends face an ongoing battle with Socs (said soshaz) who are rich kids with Beatles-like haircuts.
One night after an outing with his friend's, Ponyboy goes home and has a fight with his older brother, Darryl, who acts as Ponyboy's guardian, due to his parents untimely death. Ponyboy runs away and runs into trouble with his best friend Johnny in tow. This sets off a chain off events that leads to an unexpected conclusion.
The two relationships in the story that really stood out were that of Dallas "Dally" Winston and Johnny Cade, Ponyboy's best friends and fellow Greasers. Dally is a somewhat of an older brother figure for Johnny who is as Ponyboy describes as a nervous wreck. When big bad Dally harrasses Cherry Valance, a Soc, little Johnny Cade stands up to him, and to everyone's surprise, Dally backs off and walks away.
Author S.E. Hinton has written a masterpiece of literature about finding your place in the world, conquering incredible odds and sticking together. I would reccomend this to anyone from the 13 and over. It is truly inspiring.
