Look I loved most of it but Circe ending up with Telemachus? Penelope was right there.
Is this book good? No. It's too longwinded and there are a bunch of points that expect you to have encyclopedic knowledge of twilight to figure out what particular thought of Bella's is being referenced. Did I enjoy it? Yes, of course I did. It's a terrible book and everything my thirteen-year-old self dreamed of.
I found it useful, particularly the chapter on eco-fascism and accelerationism. The main weakness of it is that it positions Islamophobia as the new anti-Semitism, which then downplays current anti-Semitism. Would recommend giving it a read.
Man that went all over the place. I had fun with the chaos of the retreat but the ending really felt far too neatly tied up for me, and the romance felt unearned. Like if there was one of the little epilogues then yeah okay that’s what happened next, but there’s three or four and at that point it’s a summary of a different book
I enjoyed this book, but I don't think the format of so many short articles together suited the way I like to read. For someone who likes to chip away a little at a time without losing the thread of the book it'd probably be quite good.
I found the book a bit frustrating in that it was very focused on the Northern Hemisphere, and once it got into different constellations I could pretty much skip every "how to spot it" section because they all involved star hopping that could only be done in the Northern hemisphere. It also could have branched out from greek mythology a little more when talking about the mythology behind different constellations. I'm sure it would have been a lot more enjoyable if I lived in the UK like the author.
