The way the 2 in 1 was presented was fun. The first story I read was Biters by Harry Shannon, a zombie story told after the zombie apocalypse has taken place. The story was fairly short, but was a fun read. The main character was sex obsessed, leaving me wondering if the character needed sex or the author. I did enjoy the story, it was fast paced and the action kept the story moving along nicely.

The second story, The Reborn by Brett Talley was an apocalyptic tale of government intervention gone to a new and frightening level. I greatly enjoyed the premise, and it made me wonder "what if". The ending while not really surprising, was still quite good. There was one glaring inconsistency that should be dealt with before release if possible. At the end of a chapter regarding Dominic, suddenly Marcus is wiping spit off his face. As far as I saw Marcus wasn't there, and didn't get spit on. Simple editing and removing the confusing lines would correct that issue. I did find it brought my reading to a complete halt as I read and re-read trying to figure out how that line fit in before I gave up and move on. Other than that, the editing and grammer were quite good.

All in all I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fun zombie/apocalypse story.

An engrossing look into a deeply troubled family. The plot held me fast from beginning to eye opening end. From the blurb I expected it to focus on the murder of a young child, and while that does figure prominently the focus is actually on Minerva herself and her complex family relations. Very highly recommended book!

Hard to believe this is Peter Brett's first novel. Very well written, character with depth that I actually came to care about. I am definitely going to hunt down the next book in the series. Fantasy that both my teen and I can share and enjoy. The pace was fast and exciting, it swept me along for an adventurous ride.

Hopefully the next book in the series will delve deeper into the Corelings and their beginnings.

I found this book quite interesting. It is told from various viewpoints, including one completely unexpected. At first it seemed a bit disjointed as it went from viewpoint to viewpoint, however that aspect actually worked quite well in conjunction with the premise of the tale. Most of the time I was entirely unsure what was "reality" and what was delusion, and who exactly was delusional, everyone, no one ... which added to the atmosphere, and increased my interest. Would Lucy's mother kill her, was she really what and who her mother thought she was? Though this is not an entirely new topic I found this a fresh and pleasing take, with some fun twists and turns, and a great surprise ending. I would definitely recommend.
