A humorous take on basic Pirate culture. The use of repeating themes and jokes are straightforward, but he occasionally blends one in so subtley that you might miss one or two. Should be read in one sitting.
BORING. Kurt Austin is a flat character who is totally unnecessary in these stories. Another case of a character with too many skills and not enough weaknesses. And does he have to sleep with every beautiful woman in the stories?
Not as good as "Lion's Game" but better than "Nightfall". I love the John Corey character, and didn't mind that it was more of the same: if it ain't broke don't fix it. I didn't like how the plot was laid out early in the story, but there were enough unknowns to keep me interested. Ultimately it is John's sarcasm, impatience, and unlying deductive abilities that kept me on the edge of my seat.
