Interesting story and loved the characters. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
A good story with interesting characters. Waiting for the next one.
A very good follow up to State Of The Union.
A very good story, with interesting characters. Looking forward to reading Bookmarked For Death, the secon in the series.
Not only was this a very good mystery, but it also gives the reader an interesting insight to the pottery industry in North Carolina.
This is the second in the Molly Appleby series and a great follow up to A Killer Collection. Molly is headed to Richmond to get behind the scene material on the TV show Antique Treasures. What I particularly enjoy about this series is that Stanley provides the reader with information from the past and ties it in with the mystery. Looking forward to reading book three, A Deadly Dealer.
This is the fifth book in the Supper Club series featuring the Flab Five. Lucy, Gillian, Lindy, Bennett and James all have weight issues to a degree and felt that they shouldform a support group. They seem better at solving murders in Quincy Gap, rather than getting a grip on their weight issues.
The Battered Body begins with James busy with last minute plans for his father's, Jackson and milla wedding. Milla sister,The Diva Of Dough has agreed to come to Quincy's Gap and prepare some food and bake the wedding cake. But before the happy event can take place The Diva Of Dough is found dead in the kitchen of the B&B where she is staying, covered in cake batter. Since the Diva wasn't one to win friends and influence people, there is a rather lengthy list of possible murderers. So the Supper Club members decide to work behing the scens to help Lucy solve the mystery.
I really enjoy reading this series. The characters and locale seem so real to me. When i can envision the characters and some of the scenes, that just adds so much to my reading pleasure.

Another exxcelent series from Susan. Such an interesting group of charaters and so well introduced. Looking forward to the next book.
Another great book from Julie Hyzy.
Do yourselves a favor and pick up this wonderful book. Better yet, pick up the first two also and start at the beginning of the series. Not only does one get to read a great mystery, but you get to learn the workings of a small rural community and even an opportuity to larn about the work involved in managing a 15 acre apple orchard. All books include recipes too.
First book in a new series for Shelia and an execellant one.
Good stories in the first two books and interesting characters.
Even tho I odn't partake, This is a great series and this was a very exciting addition to it.
Wonderful classic traditional cozy. Well deserving of namination for the Agatha for Best First Novel
This is the best so far in the series. There aren't to many series that provide me with the inpression of being in the story, but The Supper Club series does. Start with the first so you get to know the Flab Five from the beginning.
I had the pleasure of reading the second book in Ellery Adams’ The Bay Mystery series, A Deadly Cliché this weekend.
Olivia Limoges, on her morning walk along the beach with her dog Capt. Haviland (Haviland has no dialogue in the book, but does bark a few times) notices a pail near the shoreline. But as she approaches the pail, the smell emitting from it is almost too much bear. Under the pail she finds the head of dead man. Shortly after calling 911 Chief Rawlings and a couple officers arrive to begin their investigation. The victim has no ID and is unknown to any of those investigating.
Olivia returns to downtown Oyster Bay before heading to her restaurant, The Boot Top. She sees, Laurel, one of the members of the Bayside Book Writers group. Laurel is quite upset as there have been a couple of burglaries in the surrounding area. On Saturday the writers group has their regular meeting and the discussion centers around the break ins and the body found on the beach. Laurel, hoping to get a job as reporter, goes to interview a couple of the break in victims. It is learned that some clues have been left behind by the burglars. These clues turn out to be clichés and help the Writers group to come with a solution to the burglaries and who murdered the body found on the beach.
Also, Olivia learns that her father, who has been missing and presumed may still be alive. All the interesting characters from the first book are back and the reader will learn a little more about their show more makeup.
I really enjoy reading this series, as Adams does an excellent job of providing a believable mystery and a well written story to enjoy.

Another exciting story and recipes.
This is the first book in the Victoria Square series. Lorraine Bartlett also writes as Lorna Barrett.
Victoria Square is a group of small shops and is anchored by Artisans Alley. Artisans Alley is made up of booths for artists. Katie Bonner has inherited a 10% ownership in Artisan Alley when her husband had died in an automobile accident. As she is on her way to work she notices police cars in front of Artisan Alley and stop be and learns that the owner, Ezra Hilton, has been found dead, evidently murdered. Katie soon learns that she will executor of Hilton’s estate and will be majority owner in it. The other 45% will belong to Ezra’s nephew. AA is, to put it mildly, in financial disarray due to bad management by Ezra. The artisans and the shop owner in Victoria Square want it to become a a success, whereas the nephew wants it sold as soon as possible. Soon there is a break in to Katie’s office and one of the artisans is found dead. Katie doesn’t feel the police are looking hard enough to find the killer.
Bartlett has provided the reader with an interesting cast of characters and a very interesting mystery. She built a solid case for two or three of the characters, but left me surprised at the end. I’m looking forward to the next book to hopefully learn more about the artisans and to see if they can get along with the crafts people who will be joining them.

I was lucky enough to win an ARC of A Deadly Row.
The author is in fact Tim Myers. I've read his other books, but this the best, IMHO. The book
leans more toward a traditional cozy than his other books and I think that
might be what I liked the most. There aren't a lot of characters in the
book, but almost all of them could be the killer.
Zach Stone, is the retired police chief of Charlotte. He had to take a
medical retirement after being shot. His wife, Savannah, makes math and
logic puzzles for syndication in newspapers. Zach misses the life of a
policeman and has started to do consultant work for various police agencies
in North Carolina. Not to make ends meet, but to keep his mind active in
crime solving.
Zach receives a call from the current police chief of Charlotte, asking for
his help. There have been to murders already and clues left by the killer
that point in the direction that the Mayor could be the next. Upon arriving
in Charlotte, Savannah and Zach are given a penthouse suite in one of the
finer hotels. It seems the owner of the hotel was the employer of one of
the victims. The other victim, a male, has had bad dealings with almost all
of the main characters.
The killer can't help taunting the police with notes and pictures. Savannah
can't help assisting her husband, as the she can see that the notes and
pictures are pieces of a puzzle that once deciphered will lead them to the
killer.
Who is the killer? The current police chief, a policeman who didn't get the show more
chiefs job, Somebody that dated the mayor. Or is it the mayor himself?
Put this book on your list to read and enjoy. You won't want to put it

What a joy it is to spend time visiting the Indigo Tea Shop and it's owner Theodosia Browning and her staff. If this were a real place I would love to work there. Drayton is the master tea blender with a wonderful sense of humor, Haley the innovative chef and partimer Miss Dimple.
The historic area of Charleston wrapping up a Back alley crawl one evening and Theois on her way to take some tea and scones to the lady who runs a map shop. As Theo approaches she witnesses the shop owner being strangled. The assailant sees her and takes off running. The police are called and Dectective Tidwell casually mentions the the victim bears a resemblence to Theo. Quite naturally Theo wants to find the assailant, but she was seen and just maybe she was the intended victim. As Theo begins to do some low key investigation someone tries to run Theo off the road. Now she is really oncerned for her own life. She soon learn that her ex friend has recntly broken up with his girlfriend, who just happens to be in town. there is a group called The Kipling Club who loot are of historical artifacts. Maybe they surprised while going through the shops inventory of old maps.In the end Theo find the answers she needs.
Laura Childs writing and descriptions of the surrounding s is what makes this a great series. In my minds I can practicly see the shop, it setting and display of teas. Even if you are not a lover of teas, this is a must read series to educate ones self about them. Recipes for wonderfully show more sounding meals severed at the shop are included.

BWW is the fourth in the White House Chef Mystery series. I would have to rate it the best so far in the series.
A box of chicken wings delvered to the White House for the First Families children has put things in an uproar. Ollie, following procedures, refuses to give them to the children and then one the of assistant chefs gives them to some workers in the laundry room of the White House. The wings have been tainted with arsenic and some of workers go to the hospital. Soon Ollie learns that the First Family has hired a personal chef. Not sure whether she is being just replaced or if it is tied to the chiken wing episode. Frustrations run high for Ollie is the kitchen as the Secret Service is unwlling to explain to the First Family about the tainted chicken. In the middle of all this Ollie manages to spend some time with an old friend and hopefully a little romance will be in the aire for her. The book ends with an action packed finish.
A nice collection of recipes are also included with the book.

A very good follow up story to A Timely Vision. Dae O'Donnell is mayor of the small coastal community of Duck, NC. the community has a rich history of pirates, but then maybe it is mostly lore. Max Caudle claims to have found a chest filled with pirate's gold along the shore years ago. As Dae is returning to the Duck Historical Museum, run by Max, an explosion levels the the building injuring Dae. Dae has the ability to find missing pieces by touching the hands of the owner. The expolsion maginifies these abilites, so that know she gets much broader readings. Along with Kevin Brickman owner of the Blue Whale Inn and former FBI agent, they put there heads together to solve the mystery and find the killer. When they had their heads together, there may have been a few kisses, but that might be more for the next book.
This is the 19th book in the China Bayles series and another very enjoyable book from Albert.
China is nearing home and notices a mobile home on fire. Approacing the door of the home she hears the cry of a female, then an expolsion rips the the home. The only clue the police find is a braclet with the initials G. G.. China mentions the event to an intern, Jessica, at Pecan Valley's newspaper. She lost her parents and twin sisteres in a houe fire. She feels she can get closure for her own loss and just might be able to get a story that will help her secure a good reporters job. Then Jessica goes missing trying to track down the story and possibly the killer. China has a phone message from Jessica begging for help. China must now start to backtrack Jessica's movments so she find Jessica before it is to late.

Classified is the second book in this series by Miranda James(also writes as Dean James). This has joined my list of Favorites Series.
Libarian, Charlie Harris, has returned to Athena, MS where he volunteers at the local library and works at Athena College as cataloger and archivist. In this book Charlie comes to find that his son, who lives in Texas has come for a visit. But Sean doesn't seem to want to share why he has showed up with out warning. Then at the library the next day, aging and eccentric James Delacotte engages Charlie to do an inventory of his his extensive rare book collection. Delacotte feels that one of his relatives that lives with him is stealing some of his books. The family is about as disfuntional as they come. Then Monday Charlie starts his first day on the inventory. He breaks for lunch with his son and upon returning an hour later finds that Mr. Delacotte is dead and more than likely murdered. An unlikely request comes from deputy sheriff, as she askes for him to keep his ears and eyes open wide while he is working on the inventory.
The books are just straight forward great stories. Not a lot of twists and turns, just good plotting and enjoyable reading. And just maybe in future books maybe a little romantic interest for Charlie and his son.
I'm not famliar with Maine Coon cats, but if ther is one negative thing I will say and or ask, do they chirp and warble? Diesel, a Maine coon cat in the book does and I shake my head when I read that.

Grace Interuppted is the second book in the Manor House series by Julie Hyzy.
The Manor House has agreed to rent some land at the edge of the estate so that a Civil War re-enactment group could recreat some battle scenes. The group has an understanding that they are to have compete privacy while setting up camp. Grace arrives at work to find security with two women who have tried to get into the encampment. The soldier has a run in with the Manor's gardener and his brother. A short time later the soldier is found dead. Gracie doesn't believe Jack, the garderner, or his brother had anything to do with the murder. So it is up to Gracie to learn the real story.
This series has some wonderful characters, Mr. Bennett, the owner of the Manor, the gardener, Jack and Gracie's assistant. Francis is a total pain to Gracie but will provide the reader with a few smiles.
This is a great story and I am sure that Grace and her staff will keep you entertained.

Unraveled is the ninth book in the Knitting Mystery series and a very delightful read.
Kelly's friends at Lambspun are walking on egg shells around around her after the recent breakup of her and Steve. So Jennifer, a real estate agent, invites Kelly to ride to the canyon with her to inspect some property she has under contract. As they turn onto the drive of the property, the owners wife passes them. Upon entering the house Kelly and Jennifer find the owner shot in the head with a WW II gun lying nearby. The deceased man has had a history of bad real estate dealings. The deceased was in the middle of a heated divorce, one of Keely's clients has also had run-ins with him. So it is time for Kelly "Sherlock" Flynn and her friend Burt Parker put their heads together To find the killer. In Kelly's "real job" as an accountant she needs to visit various contractor meetings and dinners. After one of these Kelly is invited to a volley ball game where she crosses paths with Steve. This is one of the funniest scenes that I have read in a long time. Kelly has a bunch of zany friends and they also provided much enjoyment in this book. I always look forward to the next book in Maggie Sefton's knitting series. As always there is a recipes and knitting pattern included.
