You mean the no title/no author mess? You can't tell what books are there, that's the whole point. Periodically a real book with a title gets in the mess, and someone separates it out. There are a number of reviews attached, and sometimes you can tell what book a review is for, but there's nothing to get at to separate or to tell what's there.

I am thing about the database aspects. What happens if the author field is
a) NULL
b) the empty string
Is there an author url associated to these values or not.
They might be added manualy (if this was not done so far). It could be that they would be along the most populated author urls needing a lot of combinations and cross author work combinations.
The link catalog/?sort=authorunflip should be a testlink for every registered and logged in user.
I tagged many of my books imported without a value in the author field with Tag: •missing author. (The tag should be removed at a half a dozen records).

Ah, I see. No, there's no author page for the null/empty string authors, which is a good reason to try to avoid it whenever possible; an editor, or a publisher, for instance. (In my opinion even "Various" or "Anonymous" is better than no-author, but this is an area of debate.)
It looks like you have an unclosed HTML tag in #3, by the way; your tag isn't showing up.
