How do you interact with recommendations

After reading lots of discussions on the RSI list about improving recommendations, I realized that one of the reasons the recommendations I was getting were useless was that my library was very large and ecletic and represented two peoples' interests over 40 years.

So, I made a collection of books I've read recently which I thought were excellent and turned on recommendations only for that collection.

I still found only about a third of the recommendations interesting, but they were much more interesting than the previous set. I am starting to investigate the actual books and will be rating the recommendations in a separate thread.

What are other people doing?

I have to admit that I am not currently using the recommendation systems, as I get far to many suggestions from Talk. However, I shall take note of your solution for future use - thank you.

I also created a collection just for recommendations and turned it off for all other collections. That's really the only way to limit recommendations since LT uses a book for recommendations if Use-For-Recommendations is turned on for any collection the book is in.

I was finding that the books I have in series were overrepresented, plus I have works in both omnibus form in Your Library and also as individual works in Inclusions. So I added all my books to my Recommendations collection and removed all but the first book of series and also removed the omnibuses for which I also have the constituent works.

That gave me better recommendations, but I don't really look at them very much anymore anyway since I'm at a time in my life where I don't have much time for reading.
