So what are you making? Will it be done in time for the holidays?

I know I have 6 hats in my queue and since I design each one each time and love throwing in cables so that no one gets the same hat they might not all be done by the holiday but we'll see. . . I need a good weekend sitting on the couch with movies and knitting.

It's not for the holidays per se, but a friend commissioned me to reproduce an old favorite winter hat for her. I have faith that I will finish it so she can get some use out of it this season.

I've got three things going. One I'll get finished, two I won't.
In this economy, work is the curse of the knitting class.
Perhaps I should stop messing around on LibraryThing and get on with it.

Gidday, Ocker!
Glad you enjoyed my feeble attempt at profound philosophy.
I did get that thing finished but I'm going to have to shift gears now to finish my manufacturing for a relatively new grandson in Auckland. It'll cost a bucket more to mail it than the yarn is worth but I'm sure my daughter will appreciate the effort.
Have a great Christmas on the creek. Brisbane must be beautiful at this time of year.

Brisvegas is steamy to say the least. Pleased to hear that one UFO has been knocked off. I have a couple of adult size jumpers on the go - in the steamy tropics that is what one does - knit jumpers! Only the G & Ts don't help when I'm trying to count stitches. Damn those pesky mosquitoes. Have a very merry Christmas...let it snow let it snow let it snow....

I've got one last thing on the needles, and thanks to a back problem I'm really behind schedule. I've finished the scarf for my sister and the hat for my stepdad, so all I've gotta finish is my mom's socks.

I've been working on the first one for three/four weeks now. It's not done. Yeah. This project's totally gonna be done in time for Christmas

Well I have finished four hats in four days, two more and a cowl to go. . .

gmillar I had to read your post for a moment I thought you were manufacturing a new grandson and I was perplexed ;)

A few years ago the idea of manufacturing a kid had some attraction but these days manufacturing FOR one seems enough. My man, Jackson, now has a red and white pillbox cap on its way to him.
It was fun to make. I tried the five-needle technique for the first time, starting from the middle of the crown, it wasn't as difficult as I thought it might be although I twice had to scramble to stop one of the needles from disappearing under the couch.

Back in October, I decided that I would knit a pair of fingerless gloves for my sister. While shopping for yarn, I saw a skein that I thought would be perfect for gloves her youngest daughter. Well, of course, if I knit for one of the girls, I'd need to do the same for the other. And if I did that, what about the two boys? And my brother-in-law? And what about my parents?
So my knitting list grew from a single pair of gloves to 8 pairs, all from different patterns and yarns.
At the last moment, I decided to knit my boyfriend a "Cyber Sam" robot (an Alan Dart pattern).
I managed to get all the gloves done in time to mail, but the robot didn't quite make it. I presented in pieces, and promised to finish it this week!

Most of the year's gift knitting, for the grandchildren, I did while I was visiting them in November/early December because transatlantic mail is so expensive. So all I had planned was a pair of socks for my husband, because he especially liked the hiking socks I made for myself.

I got somewhat derailed by an extended power outage. There was no way I could knit socks with black/dark brown yarn and a texture pattern, by candlelight, so I cast on another project and then got so enthusiastic about it that it was hard to stop. ("Blizzard Blanket" on my projects.)

However, I managed to tear myself away from that long enough to finish the second sock and the pair was ready Christmas morning!

I love that they were were ready Christmas morning.

I managed to knit 7 hats and three cowls and only two were mailed out late- which means I am not thinking about knitting for myself again . . .
