I recently read a description by one LibraryThinger of the numerous sequels to Conan Doyle's books as those "godawful, feeble, ought-to-be-banned attempts by others to continue a dead author's work". This is fair comment, but does leave me a little hesitant about introducing my own small attempt to, well, continue a dead author's work. Not, I hope, godawful or feeble, it is The Remains of Sherlock Holmes. The book is due to appear on 1 December, and copies will be available for early review on LibraryThing very soon. It will be for the reviewers to say, of course, whether these seven new stories come anywhere close to the penumbra of the shadow of the originals. If you are interested, do request for an early review copy, or keep an eye open for the reviews of others.
