They are all coming to my house and I need to make a punch that has a little punch, but not too punchy, if you know what I mean. Suggestions?

Oxford University Punch

1 c. brown sugar
3 c. lemon juice
1 bottle of cognac
1 bottle of dark rum
cinnamon sticks and cloves

Dissolve the sugar in 8-10 cups of boiling water. Reduce the heat so that it isn't boiling but still very hot. Add the juice, cognac and rum and mix well. Add the cinnamon and whole cloves and serve warm in mugs.

I'm following Love a Cocktail on Facebook where they are posting a daily holiday cocktail that looks pretty delicious. They also tell you how to make it. They are apparently also on twitter. Today was Santa Claus-mopolitan.

Sounds fun. I've had a lot of luck with short tutorials on YouTube. And I still love Cosmopolitans.

Seems like we need some new holiday cocktails, and if this isn't the time to revive a booze group, I don't know what is:

Seems bad practice to shake with the ginger beer. Shouldn't you add that after shaking the other ingredients?

I agree, I'd just pour it in last and give a quick stir. The recipe was probably written out to make it as easy as possible.

I was at a party with a "Christmas Sangria" last week - tasted like a mulled wine, but cold. It was a big hit. (I notice there are lots of results for a Google search for "Christmas sangria" but couldn't tell you what's closest to what our host made.)

Sounds good, and I found this version:

I also found a version that included brandy too. Liquor soaked fruit is always fun.

Those are some dayglo cocktails! I do like a shot of something in my eggnog and hot chocolate.
