Greetings all; I have just recently begun collecting EP books and found this forum while Googling around for like-minded folks.
I must admit that I wish I had found out about Easton much sooner as it appears that I have missed out on some of their best books which are now out of print. In particular, I would have loved to have obtained the N.C. Wyeth Illustrated Adventure Classics series.
Do any of you think there is any possibility they will ever release it again?

Well, I'm not sure exactly when they came out from Easton, however, some searching on Ebay and Amazon shows some of them, such as the Black Arrow, having a 1991 Publishing date......that would make 2011 a 20 year anniversary :D
I actually did send them an email asking about this recently and got this reply:
"Thank you for the kind words, we love hearing the positive feedback!
Unfortunately we do not know if we will ever publish that series again.
Please feel free to visit our website at www.eastonpress.com from time
to time. It will be definitely be advertised if we ever decide to bring
it back.
Thank you!

Also, on another note....what is up with this Gilded-Legacy guy on Ebay? His prices are ridiculous!

Check abebooks, a number of the volumes from this series can be had for reasonable prices ($50 or less).

I recently acquired a copy of the Reader's Choice 2009 "The Black Arrow". I think I actually like the fact that it has the more traditional gilded image on the cover, yet has the N.C. Wyeth illustrations inside. It would be great if Easton could re-release all the books from the original series this way, even if it was slowly 1 by 1. Judging by the popularity of the set on Ebay and Amazon, they could stand to make some good money (hint, hint EP, if you are watching).

>10 wailofatail:: Names on Spines
I think the one-name spines are from an earlier edition. My copies of Robin Hood and The Black Arrow have only the author's name on the spine. There is also a copy of Kidnapped pictured on ebay with only the author's name on the spine. My copy of Kidnapped has both names. The two types of spine also have different spacing between the ribs.

Finally, the spine of all of the editions include the author and the illustrator except that I have one plastic wrapped volume of Robin Hood, identical to the others except that it only credits the author on the spine, not N.C. Wyeth, the illustrator.
My copies of Robin Hood and Kidnapped only have the author on the spine (they are also missing the gold pinstripes on either side of the raised bands). The covers of both match are the same style as the other fours I have which include Weyth's name on the spine.
However, you got me to look inside and I found a small difference in Robin Hood and a bigger one in The Black Arrow. Five of the titles (Kidnapped, Robin Hood, Westward Ho!, The White Company, Treasure Island) all have the Weyth illustrated title page on reproduced on the left and a standard title page on the right with "Collector's Edition" and the Easton Press logo and name on it (the difference in Robin Hood is that it states "From the Title Page of the Original Edition" on the reproduced title page). However, The Black Arrow has only the reproduction of the title page, which is on the right and has the E/P copyright on the back.
I also only recently discovered that E/P did not reproduce the original dustjacket artwork for these books. Of the six titles I own three have part of the cover illustration on the small inset on the cover and the other three use part of an interior illustration. However none of them reproduce the complete dustjacket illustration full page size.

Greetings. Just found this site and signed up!
If interested, I just listed a complete 10 volume set of "Classics of Adventure" on eBay. All 10 volumes are sealed, in the original shipping cartons from EP and in mint condition. The "Buy-It-Now" price is very reasonable and includes insured shipping.

Drums is such a fine, albeit underrated book--a shame they dropped it. Has the EP ever reprinted the Wyeth-illustrated Odyssey? I personally think this is Wyeth at the very top of his art.
