Book #2: The Red Thread ~ Ann Hood
This book really drew me in--unexpectedly. The juxtaposition of the adopting families with the stories of the Chinese mothers abandoning (lovingly, painfully) their baby daughters made the book very real.

Book #3: By Nightfall ~ Michael Cunningham

Book #4: Bonobos: Encounters in Empathy ~ Jo Sandin
I love our Milwaukee County Zoo bonobos!

Book #5: The Holocaust by Bullets: A Priest's Journey to Uncover the Truth behind the Murder of 1.5 Million Jews ~ Patrick Desbois
I have read a lot of Holocaust/Shoah books recently, but this shocked me more than any other. This was a part of the history I (and I'm sure many others) have never heard.

Book #23: The History of Love ~ Nicole Krauss
Great book. It would be easier to read on an e-reader though, so you could easily go back to find earlier references and figure out how all the pieces fit together. It's like a mystery that isn't written like one. Fascinating read.

Book #27: House Rules ~ Jodi Picoult
This one did not seem as believable as the others. I kept thinking--at least of the mother--"Why don't you ask him what happened?" It bothered me.

Book #29: The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency ~ Alexander McCall Smith
Decided I would try this book that so many people have talked about. Quick read but special somehow.

Book #31: The Graveyard Book ~ Neil Gaiman
What an unusual but fascinating kids' book. I can see why it won the Newbery.

Book #32: The Unlikely Disciple: A Sinner's Semester at America's Holiest University ~ Kevin Roose
Recommended to me by several people. A different angle on Christian fundamentalists.

A great and easy read for a bibliophile. Fascinating look at the the underworld of rare book thieves.

I'm glad to hear you liked The Man Who Loved Books Too Much. It's the one I'm reading for the luck of the die TIOLI challenge this month. I'll probably get to it tomorrow or Monday.
