I missed my 2010 challenge by four - not to shabby. We're going to try this again for this year and see how it goes. I'll consider it a success if I read 9 books in each category that's 99 in total. I reserve the right to include novellas and short stories in this listing, not just novels and epics.

I'll borrow categories from years past:
1. White Books - Have love, life, light or laugh (or variations) in the title for my bright side - DONE
2. Black Books - Have dead, death, night or dark (or variations) in the title for my dark side - DONE
3. Oldies - any book with a copyright before I was born - DONE
4. Pretty Pictures - any book with pictures ex. graphic novels, comic, manga - DONE
5. eBooks - electronic books - DONE

A License to Steal: a father's genius a son's revenge but payback has a price by Walter T. Shaw

An interesting perspective of a jewel thief's life. Guided in life by his hatred of the rich for the slights against his father, Walter T. Shaw took up a life a crime. In this book he explains how watching his genius father get robbed of his inventions ie: the conference call, Walter Shaw decided poverty was not the life for him, and joining up with mafia, became a wiseguy and a world class jewel thief.

Darkness Under the Sun by Dean Koontz

I was a lucky winner of a "What the Night Knows" ARC. And I thoroughly enjoyed that book. In this prequel to the story told in the book, we learn a little about Mr. Blackwood and a child's being drawn forcefully out of his innocence not only once but twice. This little novella was a very good set up for the story yet to come.

By the Pricking of my Thumbs - by Agatha Christie

Interesting little story, Tuppence goes looking for the owner of a painting that was given to her husbands' aunt. She has a sense of dread something has happened to dear old Mrs. Lancaster.
Kept me guessing as to who the culprit was. 1st Christie novel I have read. Enjoyed it.

@19 - thank you very much, I do feel quite confident about finishing the challenge this year.

Dexter is Delicious by Jeff Lindsay

Took me little while to get into this one. When the book series and the TV series are so different, it takes time to move out of one and into the other.

In this book, Dexter has become a father and is trying to reform his Deadly Dark Dexter ways. Right as he is coming into a case that very well might need his Dark Passenger to figure out.
Brian, his brother, comes back and tries to move in on Dexters' territory with the family.
And the case of a missing person has a strange turn. All this sets Dexter on a new path of righteousness that may very well be his undoing.

The Rebel by J.R. Ward

Cute little love story. Frankie is a strong heroine, jumps to a lot of conclusions but otherwise likable.
Nate, the hero, has his car break down in the Adirondacks, and winds up on Frankie's doorstep. Seeing she is in need of help with her Bed and Breakfast, he offers his services as a chef until the end of the season.
Can they keep the heat in the kitchen, or is that pot going to boil over?

Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life by Wendy Mass

Jeremy Fink has just received a box from his father, who has been dead for 5 years.
He is supposed to open this box on his 13th birthday, which is just months away. It has four keyholes but no keys.
With the help of his best friend Lizzy, he goes in search of the keys.
This is an interesting story, as it gets you thinking on what is most important to you. What is your meaning in your life? Written for young adults, it is a story any age group could get into.

Live Wire by Lora Leigh

The plot was good, the intrigue and that. The Special Ops unit Tehya and Jordan belong to haa run it's course and is being disbanded. Tehya on the run from her father for years before she killed him has finally started to feel safe, when she starts to feel as though she's being watched. Jordan who has tried to stay away from Tehya from the first day they met, finds that she is yet again in danger from her fathers' associates and runs to her rescue.
If you had read Lora Leigh before, you know she writes very in depth (no pun intended) sex scenes, those are no different in this book. Very hot and steamy, no holds barred, sex scenes.
The thing I had a problem with is all the typos and editing mistakes. I forgive a book one or two mistakes. I am usually skimming across the pages anyway and probably miss some that others would catch. But when I find myself having to re-skim a page because the errors make the fluid feel of a book all choppy, it gets annoying as hell. And I had to do this more than half a dozen times.

How to Bake a Perfect Life by Barbara O'Neal

I quite enjoyed this book, the story held my interest even though it's not my usual flavor of story. I do wish they author had gone a little bit more in depth at the ending of the book, on how everything worked out for the bakery and such, but other than that a recommended read.
