I am going to read the entire Dune series (including the new book by his son) over the next year. I will be reading them in order of publication. If anyone else is goign to read the books I would love to discuss and encourage each other here.
Anyone else up for a jaunt through the Dune universe written by Frank herbert?

I have added this group read to the wiki.

Probably pay to advertise this on the What We Are Reading: Science Fiction & Fantasy thread if you haven't already.
I've already read a lot of the Dune books so it's not for me this time round.

I'll pass. Having been most emphatic on about my viewpoint of "Read Dune...then stop!" it would be a very short participation for me. :-D

I just read Dune last year, but I would be interested in reading the other books if I can find them at the library.

Aaaaahh I just finished Dune last week! Also I'm with Tad, I don't plan on reading any others.

Not up for the entire series, but I'd join in for the first couple of books.

I just happened to buy a copy of the book last week so was going to read it anyway, so count me in for at least the first book.

I'm in.

I'm already half way through the first book; started it late last year. It is my second read through and i'm not sure I'll read more of the series after that yet.
The new books by son and that other guy aren't anything close to the old man's writing. I kept reading the first several out of (false) hope, but no more.
Otherwise, my first read of the year has already been a Herbert! (Worlds of Frank Herbert)

Hmm... I haven't read any of the Dune books, but I've also heard the "read the first one, then stop" mantra... well, if I get a copy of the first one in time, I'll join with that one, but no promises!
