I played along at home with last year's 100 book challenge and made it - 101 by New Year's Eve. Now I'm going to try it again, but with a subchallenge - 1 academic book per month. (Probably musicology-related.) And if I do that, I won't feel bad if most of the others are easy reads or even re-reads.
Here's what I've got so far.
1. Alexander McCall Smith, Tea Time for the Traditionally Built.
2. F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby (ok, a re-read, but it was a far different book to me this time than when I read it in high school).
3. Defoe, Robinson Crusoe
4. P. G. Wodehouse, Jeeves and the Tie that Binds
5. Wodehouse, Bertie Wooster Sees it Through
6. Wodehouse, Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves
7. Wodehouse, How Right You Are, Jeeves.
Yes, I got some Jeeves and Wooster for Christmas.
Now I am working on Tristram Shandy - doubt I'll finish it next, though!

Tristram Shandy is brave! I have always wanted to read it but instead I cheated and have made do with the film and the comic.. one of these days ;)

I didn't finish Tristram Shandy either. Might have done better if I'd known there was a comic version!
Welcome Musecologist, and good luck!

Well actually I haven't quite finished the comic either.. ahem. Very odd yet good so far. It is: The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman by Martin Rowson

Ooh, lots of Jeeves! I've seen so much Jeeves around here today that I'm beginning to want to read another one myself!

Thanks all. Still haven't finished Tristram Shandy, but I'm close. There's a comic?
But meanwhile I finished
8. Kipling, Just So Stories - why have I never read those? and
9. Upton Sinclair, The Jungle - not my choice! but loaned to me by a student after I, like so many before me, cited it without having read it. Somewhat stomach-turning but not as bad as I expected; certainly everything that they say it is.
and I'm watching Stephen Fry & Hugh Laurie play Jeeves and Wooster as I've run out of Wodehouse.
