Just added a bunch of local events to http://www.librarything.com/local
Looks like some new book groups have started up at BPL branches (or I just never noticed them before).
The one I’m most tempted by, being a history nerd and a fan of the author, is the Hoover Library Nonfiction Book Club, discussing With the Old Breed, a WW2 memoir by E.B. Sledge, a Mobile native who taught at the University of Montevallo. That meeting is 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27 at the Hoover Library.
Are you tempted by any of the local book events?

Thanks for posting the local events! I'm rarely able to make the events, but they library programming and clubs does seem to be getting better.
Did you make the Hoover Non-fiction meeting?

UAB Booktalk is organized by the UAB English Department and holds monthly discussions, open to the public. I've just added them to LibraryThing Local.
Little Professor in Homewood is stocking the books and will discount them if you mention that you're participating in UAB Booktalk. (They also discount other book club purchases.)
