What should I be reading while waiting for the wise mans fear? Can you guys recommend me some stuff thats like the name of the wind.

The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson
Assassin's Apprentice and sequels by Robin Hobb
Magician and sequels by Raymond E. Feist

While I consider most of the previous recommendations absolutely worth reading, they're not really that similar to The Name of the Wind.

Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea might be closer, down to a brilliant protagonist and magic based on true names.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, starting with A Game of Thrones.

The other series I would mention is Carol Berg's Collegia Magica series, starting with Spirit Lens.
