Could have killed him: "...morphine drips and debridements and blood-pressure crashes and pulmonary edemas..."

He notes the appropriateness of flesh-eating disease for an SF writer.

That's a rotten thing to get. Heh.

I have to say, he writes with good humor, given what he is going through. Liked the term e-boons too. There may come a time I have an excuse to use it.

Does he say how he caught it? So we can avoid the bug......gross. Hope he is better soon.

A close relative of mine was nearly killed by MRSA {Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus} after getting the infection from a simple operation which should have been a week in bed at home instead weeks in an intensive care room near death.

Bad stretch of luck for him. Good thing he's got health care, at least.

AsYouKnow_Bob, right, he's Canadian.

Dugsbooks, I don't think he knows.

Watts has now posted some pictures. Warning: do NOT click through if you are easily grossed out by images of serious wounds, because, eww. "Chunky V-8 juice" indeed.

Yeah, gross, but highly interesting. It's amazing, we're really living in a science fictional future.

Wow - he must have had a whole host of med students and housemen (or whatever they are called that side of the Atlantic) wandering through to have a look at that given that necrotising fasciitis isn't a particularly common complaint in Canada.
