Trying to identify book

I heard Sherrilyn Kenyon on a podcast last week, and I'm trying to identify a book of hers that she talked about but didn't mention by name.

She said it had a character who was really evil and wears silver claws on one hand, but then he runs into a little boy in a mall who's lost and he decides to help the kid. Does this ring a bell? (I can transcribe the exact quote from the podcast, if that would help.)

im pretty sure the guy is zarek and his book is dance with the devil
