I have been gone so long I feel like I need a catch up thread to get the highlights of everything new.

I have been swamped working on three plays but they are all open now then it was admissions season at the university so I have been busy.

I also feel guilty because I wrote up a hat patter for cat but haven't typed it up yet. Maybe this weekend? I also started a reread of Anne of Green Gables but I haven't finished or caught up on the threads.

I see a few of you on Facebook but I hope all is well here.

Oh and Daniel Radcliffe will be on Sunday Morning next week talking about How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on Broadway- I thought some might be interested.

What do you mean by "Daniel Radcliffe will be on Sunday Morning next week..."? Are you going to meet him? Do you think he could get Snape's autograph?

Glad to see you back, Maren! I missed you while you were so busy.

Not much to report here. I am still job-hunting, and still trying to sell my house. Though I've gone to several interviews, and though I've had several people come and look at the house, I haven't had any real success with either task.

Hi, Maren! I haven't been on FB to see you there, so miss you! I hope even though you've been pretty busy that you've enjoyed most of what kept you busy. What are the names of the plays?

I'm going to meet Jasper Fforde this Saturday while he's on his book tour for One of Our Thursdays is Missing. I'm super excited about it.

*hugs for foggi*

Maren, maybe the Daniel news is something I can give my daughter that she hasn't already heard.

Foggi, I hope somebody finds your house soon.

Kerian, LUCKY YOU! I just got his book yesterday!

Hang in there, Rissa.

Here in my library, they are cutting librarians next year (not clerks, whew) but they are keeping the libraries open!

Sorry MsD "Sunday Morning" is a news broadcast in the U.S. (tee hee)

*Big Hugs all around*

Foggi, I think things are starting to improve and I am sure you will find something soon. It has been tricky economy and not a reflection on you. You are fantastic. I am sorry it has been a struggle.

K- I miss you too. How great you get to see Jasper Fforde. You will have to tell us all about it.

Wow rissa! Congratulations and wow! I hope it all goes smoothly and that you can sleep comfortably!

Mamzel, I hope it keeps you impressive with your daughter.

Can I catch up too?

9MrAndrew
Mar 10, 2011, 4:03 am

Well. Tony is in love with Amber, but Amber is still pining for Dirk. Dirk was lost in a typhoon off the coast of Micronesia. Meanwhile his twin brother Aloysius, who happens to look exactly like him, has had a miraculous recovery from his coma! Alas, he has amnesia, and is being taken advantage of by the evil Marigold, who is plotting to wrest control of the family bedazzler empire. Marigold's ex, Burt, has just found his long-lost sister, who is secretly Amber's adopted mother. Up to date now?

... wait, what did you want to catch up on? My daytime stories, right?

Marigold is evil?

I'm crushed.

Okay, here is my contribution... speaking of bedazzlers, did you know that you can bedazzle your... ummm..... you know.... least likely to need or want to be bedazzled anatomy now? It's called vajazzling.

Hi foggidawn! *waves*

I have done nothing interesting to note and have decided to live vicariously through catbastet. She is having a great semester at college and gets embarrassed that her artwork in Sketching 101 is often used as examples of the techniques they are learning. Her latest sketch is being placed on display. Some have greatness thrust upon them. I'm a proud mom. :o)

#19 -- Yes, I can only resist a visual gag like that for so long, then it just has to come out. It's hereditary; you should hear my grandfather's truly stunning collection of bad puns.

21SpongeBobFishpants
Mar 24, 2011, 1:37 pm

Oh, not to worry. I would put my wife up against your grandfather any day of the week. If I have to hear the "Sam The Clam" pun/joke one more time I might actually cry.

Hi Maren & everyone!, I've been kind of absent too so I am thankful for this thread as the GN/BN thread is rather long!

I have discovered Ravelry, so I have been improving my crochet skills by participating in the Harry Potter Knit & Crochet House Cup. I have been enjoying it immensely, though it can be time consuming and potentially expensive! I am almost finished with my first sweater.

Other than that I don't have much news, just working a lot and wishing Mother Nature would make up her mind about this weather! (We had snow flurries for 3 days in a row!!)

Mar 28, 2011, 11:42 am

Hi y'all!

I have been dreadfully absent. I wish I had a good excuse, but I don't.

My time has been taken with work, meetings, dinners, rehearsals, sleeping, tearing hair out (not literally) birthdays (none of them my own), trips to the vet (for the rats, not me)...and very little reading.

Nothing exciting at all. And I missed you guys. And I love you. xx

26SpongeBobFishpants
Mar 28, 2011, 1:52 pm

Well, despite being dreadfully bad with an assortment of goodies (all vegan but still), I have still lost 6 lbs in the last 2 weeks on this new veggie diet. I'm gonna really try behaving myself this week and see what the grand total is without the french toast donuts, peanut butter sandwiches, coconut milk ice cream and frosted brownies.

Cross your fingers everyone and please shame me mightily if I don't behave this week. Or in MrAndrew's case, whenever.

Hee Hee Foggi! I love it.

PollyAnnaHP I am on ravelry too. My name is the same there it would be fun to see your projects. I agree, I have given up on ever catching up on gn/bn.

Miss you LadyN!

31SpongeBobFishpants
Mar 30, 2011, 12:59 am

Oh I know... don't they just kill you? We have a bakery at our favorite bookstore that sells vegan frosted brownies that are even better than any full fat/butter brownies I have ever had. I can only assume they use some sort of witchcraft. Or they have Mrs. Weasley's wand. It's hard to say and I can't exactly hop the counter and demand the recipe as the counter is piled high with all manner of fresh baked goods, including enormous layer cakes the size of hefalumps and I am so easily distracted.

Mar 30, 2011, 1:10 pm

#36 Your vegan diet includes bacon? Well, maybe I could become vegan after all.

38SpongeBobFishpants
Mar 30, 2011, 1:33 pm

Vegans eat bacon, right? Because it isn't meat per se, it's more pork candy. Yes, that's it.... pork candy....

(No, I don't eat bacon anymore but I do still have my recipe for candied maple bacon)

39Jenni_Canuck
Edited: Mar 30, 2011, 3:13 pm

I just dip the bacon in maple syrup but your recipe is probably less messy and therefore more portable than mine so I could tuck some in my bag for emergencies. If you don't mind, please share.

40SpongeBobFishpants
Mar 30, 2011, 4:53 pm

Take a pound of bacon, GOOD bacon, thick, hand-cut stuff, not that Farmer John/Hormel crap. Press each individual slice into a a pile of either maple sugar or brown sugar sprinkled on a plate. Flip the bacon and do the other side. it should be VERY liberally coated. Set each slice onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper (trust me on this unless you want to be chipping burnt sugar off your cookie sheets) and when you have them all coated and laid out, pop the sheet under the broiler on high until the bacon is crisp and the sugar has melted and carmelized. Let cool. Threaten everyone else with a pointy meat fork and eat.

And yes, I can attest to the fact that it is quite easy to sit and eat an entire pound of candied bacon. I mean, the bacon does cook down, it isn't actually a pound after you cook it.
