Welcome to the challenge! Oh, you've got some interesting books - what did you think of The Strain? I've had it recced to me by several buddies.

Thanks for the greeting, everyone! I really appreciate it!
Schweinsty, I thought The Strain was very good. It was a slightly different take on the vampire myth, but I enjoyed it. It was good to read a story where vampires were feared again for what they are. For awhile there, to quote Stephen Colbert, "the greatest fear about vampires is they'll break up with you through email."
If you enjoy vampire books, I would highly recommend it. A friend of mine loves vampire books as well, and she raves about it.

Hi! I see you've been reading the Sword of Truth books. I read them a couple of years ago and really enjoyed them - I'm curious to know what you think of them.

I thought the first 6 books in the Sword of Truth were amazing! I was completely engrossed in the world Goodkind had created and loved many of the characters. However, the last 5 books were a real let down for me. They were very preachy, repetitive, and contradictory to what was already established.

I think I pretty much agree with you - I loved the characters and the basic storyline was good, but I did think that he repeated himself a little overmuch, and at some point the Perils of Penelope vibe with Kahlen (sp? I, in fact, listened to them on audio, so I'm not so sure about what some of the names actually look like) and Richard got frustrating. Overall, though, a pretty good series, I think (but hey, I'm not picky :) ).
Oh, and welcome to the challenge, btw! Good to have you!

Welcome to the group! Good bunch of books there so far :-) I'll be interested in your thoughts on the Rothfuss when you've finished - I've got The Name of the Wind in my sights for this year after all the good things I've heard about it.

Tiassa by Steven Brust
Remaining Felix Castor books by Mike Carey (3 total)
