Ice Hunt by James Rollins ... Not as good as his Sigma Force series or for that matter his Banned and Banished series as James Clemens but not bad either for a monster/spy/political/russian/american shoot'em up set in Alaska and the Polar Ice Cap in the Arctic. Pretty sure I'll read some more of his stand alone novels, as well as keeping up to date with the Sigma Force bods of course.

Decided that I'm going to try and clear the numerous series of books that have exploded on my bookshelves. First one of the "Haunted Bookshop Mysteries" was last night another 4 of those to go and then I'll move on to the next series... problem with me is I'll buy the first, like it so much that I buy the next 4 or 5 and then never get around to reading them. So... I'll read a series and then do a short review of the storyline so far

Alice Kimberly's series "Haunted Bookshop Mysteries" are a set of stories about, funnily enough, a Haunted Bookshop. The Ghost is one Jack Shepard a Private Investigator who was murdered on the property back in 1949. The only person that is aware of him is Penelope Thornton-McClure co-owner of the shop, Buy The Book.
I really like this series, it's well written, funny, and the main group of characters that appear from book to book are strong and believable. Especially like the juxtaposition of Jack's 1940s big city outlook and Penelope's 21st Century small town life.
