This was mentioned in another thread, and it has been discussed elsewhere, but the more I think about it...
Harry Potter is about a teenage athletic prodigy named Harry James, who goes to a boarding school that teaches a very specific skill. This boarding school is sprawling physically, and also has an assortment of eccentric teachers and students, as well as several ghosts. Improbably, this school and the students in it are caught up in an odd political whirlwind, and several people involved with the school might be double, triple or quadruple agents for an odd terroristic group consisting of people with French names in masks.
One of the major climaxes of Harry Potter involves the fact that his tall, multiskilled mentor was buried with a weapon of unbelievable potency, which aforementioned group of masked, French-named terrorists want to seize. When Harry James realizes that the ultimate weapon has already been seized from the grave of this mentor, he yells out "Too Late!"
See, that is the type of frivolity you would find in a children's book, but not in serious literature!
:)
