Has anyone read this series by Mercedes Lackey? I've read the first one The Fairy Godmother and I really enjoyed it. The other two One Good Knight and Fortune's Fool are in my to-be-read pile.

The Fairy Godmother is a retelling of Cinderella...but with a twist. I like it a lot...and really need to read the other two. Hopefully I won't be dissppointed as the series progresses.

Cinderella's never been a favorite fairy tale of mine but I did love Cinderella Skeleton by Robert D. San Souci. It's a creepy cute retelling.

Cinderella has never been my favorite fairy tale either. The way that Lackey does it isn't bad though. She takes the stance that in the land of 500 kindgdoms eveeryone has a path to follow.
Here is the right up in Amazon:
In the land of the Five Hundred Kingdoms, if you can't carry out your legendary role, life is no fairy tale. . .
Elena Klovis was supposedto be her kingdom's Cinderella--until fate left her with a completely inappropriate prince! So she set out to make a new life for herself. But breaking with "The Tradition" was no easy matter--until she got a little help from her own fairy godmother. Who promptly offered Elena a most unexpected job. . .

Excellent! If you haven't read them yet the Enchanted Forest Chronicles are superb. Patricia C. Wrede does an amazing job with a princess that's a little different and then continues on in a similar fashion throughout the series with hilarious results well worth reading. I haven't read any of her other work but I find myself often enough wishing there were more Enchanted Forest adventures.

I've read Fairy Godmother, One Good Knight, Fortune's Fool, and the Snow Queen. They are all really good stories. I lvoe her retellings and twists. My fav is Fortune's Fool and I'm eagerly looking forward to Sleeping Beauty.

My favorite _was_ Fortune's Fool, but now that's in second place - I love Sleeping Beauty.
