I've ordered a copy and it's supposedly en route. If someone else doesn't get back to you, I'll let you know my thoughts once I get it.

I just received my copy. It is 8 3/4 inches long and 6 inches wide. It is 368 pages long (which includes a 20-page index). In addition, there is a 23-page introduction by T.S. Eliot and a 47-page translator's introduction by the translator, A.J. Krailsheimer. The book is set in Janson, printed on Abbey Wove paper at Martins the Printers Ltd. Berwick-upon-Tweed, and bound by Hunter & Foulis, Edinburgh, in buckram blocked with a design by Gavin Morris and drawn by Neil Gower. There are 17 colored illustrations (a painting in an unknown hand of Blaise Pascal and the rest by Philippe de Champaigne of biblical subjects such as The Pentitent Magdalene; please note that Champaigne was known for doing skull still lifes but those works are not represented in this edition). Overall, I think this is a good size for bedside reading and am pleased by the production standards.

FYI, searching on the FS site for 'Pensees' gets you nowhere. Either search for 'Pens' or 'Pensées'.

The skull was a common "memento mori" for philosophers and writers. Byron wanted Shelley's skull as one, but Trelawney believed, with good cause, that Byron wanted it for a drinking cup.

Should be receiving this in the mail in the next handful of days (ordered a couple weeks back)...I am looking forward to it. Will post my comments when I get it.

I actually missed out on this one in 2016, and although advertised as in stock, Folio were unable to fulfil. I believe they only had one bash at this and might be time for another print. I could probably get one easy enough on the secondary market but nothing seems to have crossed my radar locally and at a reasonable price.

>11 LesMiserables: Is there a special topic for wishes for reprints or new publications of old material? I think Leviathan by Hobbes, In a Glass Darkly by Fanu would be great to have done again.

>12 billburden: Not too sure. Over the years I have seen reprints of course, but how they choose is a mystery to me.

What books would you like to see reprinted by the Folio Society?

>9 Django6924: correct, a reminder that we are all destined for the tomb, thus a call to virtue and purpose.
