The Unremembered - Peter Orrulian
Prince of Thorns - Mark Lawrence
Songs of the Earth - Elspeth Cooper

are titles that keep cropping up - read any of them. I've read one and have another ready for my post ADWD blues?

I keep seeing good things about Prince of Thorns

Post ADWD, Jim Butcher's lastest Dresden Files book comes out mid July Ghost Story

And Heartless is already out.

Am reading Retribution Falls and loving it.

I'm reading Retribution Falls too... I'm enjoying it. For me it has a strong Firefly vibe (which, I think, is a good thing).

#3 Agree! Altho even Mal was more competent than Frey!

Try these...

The Astounding, the Amazing, and the Unknown by Paul Malmont.
Fascinating premise and mostly(partly?) true tho he didn't quite pull it off.

7th Sigma by Steven Gould.
Kane meets Mad Max.

Fuzzy Nation by John Scalzi.
Heinlen wishes he wrote this.

I read (and enjoyed) Retribution Falls and am always planning to get Prince of Thorns, but somehow I don't get around to it...

#10 Well since it's only been published for 3 weeks you don't win the procrastination crown just yet. I myself am always planning to get Wheel of Time...

Retribution Falls was fantastic fun. But China Miéville's Embassytown absolutely blew me away.

I don't think I'll be getting any of them, Unremebered sounds too much like WoT, Prince of thorns too Dark and Song of the Earth too light on the world building, Douglas Hulick's Among Thieves seems far more promising.

I loved Among Thieves and Retribution Falls. I've also read Ghost Story and Heartless which are new releases. Embassytown was one of those tales that makes you think. But I wasn't in love with it and have no urge to learn more of any of the characters.

Songs of the Earth is out in the US in 2 weeks! On the flip side, I'm not sure The Unremembered is widely available in the UK yet (it's not on Amazon.uk) but I did see a copy in Forbidden Planet (import?). These 3, Among Thieves & 5 other fine debuts are on the Morning Star Award ballot.
