I am reading Book 4, and I have to say that I thought we would never get to the birth! I am at the part right after the Baptism.

I just finished Book 4, and I had forgotten about the ripped-out chapter. Now in Book 5, I guess I will finally get to the part of the book that the title refers to.

Book 5 began by saying that now he would get to the part about the life and opinions of Tristram Shandy, gentleman. But he didn't. I think maybe the title was a misnomer -- or maybe just deceptive? I only have one more book left in this section. I hope to read it tomorrow.

It was funny to me how the last chapter showed graphically all of the digressions in this book. I have to say, however, that I think the entire book is a digression. I wonder what the last three books will show?

I loved the digression drawings, too, and the ripped out chapter, and all the sentences that are like this:

**** ******** ** ******** ** ********. * **** **** **** ** ** ******.
