I'm hoping to finish off the year with a pile of books I *want* to read... I was doing so well with my "fewer ARCs" goal until recently, so I've had to remind myself to stop with the crappy books and get back to the ones I've been aching to read... should be a good couple of months. :)
As you can see from the list below, I am extremely behind on reviews, but I'll do my best.
First thread is HERE.
Second thread is HERE.
And as per usual, some of my reviews are cross-posted to my writing & books blog, Literary Coldcuts on Toasty Buns.

Read a good one that seemed up your alley, The Edge of Reason. Just posted a review on our Halloween reading thread. Well-written and unique urban fantasy.

Thank you so much, everyone!!! Hope you all had marvelous Christmases, and Happy New Year to everyone as well...
As for myself, I've been quite the train wreck on my threads, eh? It's been a lot of "I'm here"... *disappears for months* ... "I'm back again" ... *disappears for several more months* ... "No really, I'm back" ... *repeat cycle*. Anyone who also follows my blog has probably noticing the same thing going on over there. It's been an interesting year, to say the least.
So, apologies all around... it was unintentional, and I'm hoping to get back on the wagon in 2012. Here's to a fresh start, and writing reviews again!
And because I didn't get to recommend many of the great books I read this year (since I wasn't around to write reviews), here's a quick list of some of my favorites in 2011 from May onward (as that's when I stopped writing reviews):
Best Non-Fiction
The Climb -- Anatoli Bourkreev
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks -- Rebecca Skloot
Tell Me Where It Hurts: A Day of Humor, Healing, and Hope in My Life as an Animal Surgeon -- Dr. Nick Trout
Best Fiction
Fever Series -- Karen Marie Moning (all 5 books were amazing)
The Lost Hero -- Rick Riordan
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes -- Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
If I Stay -- Gayle Forman
Scorch Trials -- James Dashner
...and I might have a few more to add to the list after this week's Read-a-Thon!

Oh Sherlock Holmes. I thoroughly enjoy those as well. Have you seen the new film yet, Faith?
22dk_phoenix
I have! And it was incredibly fun. :) Loved it, really... and as a hint, if you're familiar with the stories, take a quick read through "The Final Problem" before you head out to the film, and you'll enjoy it even more as you'll catch the tidbits they've included from that story (as well as others from The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes).
23MickyFine
>22 dk_phoenix: I actually saw it on the weekend and really enjoyed it too. Watching Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law for two hours is definitely a good mixture. :)
24dk_phoenix
Haha, it's so true!!! I'm actually thinking about going to see it again in IMAX... *grins*
25MickyFine
I went with a friend, but my parents really like the films as well, so I may go see it again with them. I'll be your support network in seeing the film twice if you need one. ;)

Hi, Faith! Hope you had a nice holiday:) Looks like I'm not the only one being absent in 2011. My goal is to pop up more regularly in 2012 and not stay away for months and months.
I really did miss all the good book chats in here this passed year:)
Best wishes for the New Year!!

>26 Apolline:: Yes, it's the "months and months" thing that really gets to you, eh? I've been surprised how much I've missed the group, but at the same time, I guess it really shouldn't be that surprising at all. :) Here's to a great and fulfilling 2012 for both of us!
