I have started an Algonquin Book so thought I would check in with y'all. It is Coal Black Horse by Robert Olmstead. Began it with my morning coffee and toast. Must say I was reluctant to put it down to begin my day.

Have any of you read it?

I've done a review.

sounds like a very powerful book. I'm never a huge fan of Civil War stuff but may have to add this to my wishlist.

I'm not a Civil War buff, and am not sure why I picked the book up. I'm not a "horse nut" either so it wasn't the title or the cover. But I am very glad that I did. The images of the battlefield are very graphic but the true story is more about how war takes away our innocence and even though we "turn out okay" the scars on our soul will always be there. It is also about learning that sometimes we must make decisions that we don't want. I hope you enjoy it. Let me know.
