Cheap Paperbacks

Monday, I visited the Friends Bookstore at the Homewood Library. I came across this little stack of brown paper bags that each held 20 paperbacks for 1.00. The beauty of it was that you don't know what you're getting, but who cares because you're only paying .05 a paperback. I bought two bags I walked over to the library that day, so it was probably quite a spectacle to see me waddling down Oxmoor with 40 books in tow. Check out the biceps.

P.S. 12 out of the 20 books were acceptable. Anyone want a trade paperback copy of The Da Vinci Code?

I love the Friends Bookstore!

Haven’t tried the luck of the paperback bags, but it sounds like it's worth a shot. I can always post any unwanted ones on PaperBackSwap or BookMooch.

The volunteer cashiers at the Friends Bookstore used to be in the habit of steeply discounting the already low prices by rounding down the total. I think they may have tightened up a bit since the county has slashed funding to the libraries.

I've been rounding everything up to the nearest dollar because of the cuts. Jefferson County--sheesh.
