in summary the setting is in Quebec Canada, The Summer of 1994, Tempe is putting together a skull of a man who got blown apart and is about to leave for the day when all of a sudden she is called in to investigate a dead body , Thinking it is just a body that had been uncoverd from its grave she goes to Old Cemetery. Apon arriving she finds hikes into the woods and starts to smell something decomposing. The souce of the smell it turns out is from a body that had been cut up and placed in to seperate plastic bags for each of its body parts. She finds a small bag and it turns out to be a decomposing red haired face staring back at her. After investigateing the body she identifies the body as Isabelle Gagnon and finds out that she had disappeared six months before. She finds that the body had been severally mutalatied and that her skull had be hit and crused in several places. She also finds a plunger in the body but she doesnt know why. Tempe starts to think this is a serial murder but doesnt say anything to detective Claudel because she investigates bodies and he solves the crime.

It doesnt say why she thinks its a serial murder yet it just says she has a feeling . So far i think that the book is pretty good. It is very descriptive and suspencefully.Like for example she said just before she entered the sence that this case changed her life . This book actually got alot of awards and critical prasie too . What i think is cool is that this book is based on a actually case that Kathy Reighs worked on.

This could stand for A in themic connection because the theme so far to be of suspence and mystery. as in who murdered the body, why did he do it , and if there is a serial killer he must still be out there.

Summary
Tempe things that the murder is connected to Chantale Trottier . She was killed last October . Tempe thinks that the murders are connected because both were female, both were found to be dismembered and decapataited and both of them had their seperated body parts placed in different plastic blags. Claudel doesnt thing it is a serial murder though. Tempe decides to go have dinner with her friend Gabby who is anthropologist. They talk about how Tempe is divorced and Gabby talks about her reserach project. A couple of weeks later another body is found , Margaret Adkins. They determine that her death was less then 6 hours from when they found her. Again like the others she is found dead her limbs dismembered and stuffed into different plastic bags. After a more detailed study of all of the bodies Tempe discovers that the bodies all have similar cut marks. Not only that but it appears who ever is cutting up the bodies seem to know what there are doing. Claudel continues to think that the cases are seperate and arent linked at all.

It could stand for E ethic because Tempe is starting to let the case become more persoal for her. Usually she just examines bodies but now she is actually investigating and looking for clues at crime scences. I wonder why she is letting the case get so personal.

It also could stand for E moral because Claudel doesnt want to think that the cases are related. I think it is because he doesnt want to admit to Tempe that she is right because she isnt the detective he is and he is letting his pride get in the way of the case.

Summary
Tempe, claudel Ryan have found a photo of the killer. They found it because margret's credit card was used by someone after she was murdered. The photo comes from an ATM machine. But it is grainy and not a very good photo. They go asking around the area where the ATM was located. After questioning some of the locals they located his apartment in the slums of Quebec. After going into the apartment the suspects slips behind them through a hidden door and races to the street. Unforchantely there's a big parade going on and the suspect loses them in the crowd. Tempe finds a map located in the apartment with a x on it. After finding where it is she goes to the the church and is unable to find anything because it's to dark out. Just as she is about to leave she is hit on the head by a blunt object and is knocked unconscious

E for ethical
Why does tempe go the cemetery at night? Why doesn't she wait till the morning.

P for political
The parade is for the Quebec independence day because the ppl hope to separate from Canada

L for analysis
From the information in the story Tempe believes that the killer blood lust is growing because the kills are starting to become closer and closer

I really like this book so far. I can oput in as much info as I would like because I am doing this from an I pad because I am hunting right ow. It is harder to type with the iPad....not that this is relevent but I haven't gotta deer yet hopefully I will get one tomorrow

207 - 239
Tempes friend gabby disappears and she has been gone for over 2 weeks now. Tempe is worried that the reason that she is gone is that she got taken by the serial killer. Mean while the case has gotten more personal for tempe as the elusive killer has put a decapetated head on her front step.

E for ethical
The killer is trying to play games with Tempe and he scared her by placing the head in her back yard. I think he is taunting her

239 - 307
Tempe is scared for Gabby because no one has seen her in a while. Meanwhile the police has set up a task force to go after the serial killer. Tempe starts asking around if anyone has seen her friend. They followed a man to his house but are waitng for the warrent to come through. Tempe also starts to interview victims families to try and see what connects the cases togeather. At the church grounds they have a dog sniff up the rest of the bones. They havent identified it but the body appears to have been killed a long time ago.

A for themetic
the book seems to have shifted from a mystery to a suspence fulll type of book. while the reader waits for another victim.

E moral
It appears the police are becoming more worried now with all the deaths . Thats why they made the task force. but it doesnt appear that they have much to go on right now

Has the author provided you any clues as to who the serial killer is? Any character seem to be a suspect?

307-402

i think thats the point because it adds more mystery. All they really have so far is a really bad atm photo of him.

Gabby comes back and tells Tempe she has a staker. Gabby was in the Red light district pretending to be a "escort" for her research project. Apperently the Stalker is known in the Red light district and is known as St. Jacques. Gabby decides to stay at tempe's house. They identified the old bones by the Church as Grace Drama. Tempe goes to where Grace used to work and finds out she used to work at a butcher shop. When tempe shows the butcher the photo he says it looks like Leo Fortier. When Tempe goes home Ryan is mad with her because he is worried since the killer placed a skull in her yard the killer might go after her next. Gabby dissapears again but this time a crumpled piece of paper is left with it showing a x on a map. They go to they X and find that Gabby is dead. Her body was recently buried. The warrent comes through and they capture Gabbyies stalker. Turns out he is a bioligy teacher .

E for Ethical

The Killer probably wanted to kill gabby to get to tempe. The killer is taunting Tempe

E for ethical

Tempe fells guilty because if she would have looked for gabby right away they might have been able to save her. But Tempe just assumped that gabby had taken off again like last time.

Insight.
The book is almost wraped up i am still wondering who the killer is going to be. I dont think it is the biology teacher but i could be wrong about it. This was a pretty good book. but it wasnt as fast pace as i thought it was going to be
