I haven't had the chance to examine this closely, but for Mother's Day I got the 10th Anniversary Limited Collector's Edition of the P&P series with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle.

In addition to the 5-hour movie, it comes with a bonus DVD with the A&E Biography on Jane Austen and a documentary of the making of the movie.

It's also comes with a 120 page (10"x7") companion book on the series which looks interesting. It goes into the sets and costumes, and has lots of colour photos.

If you're a fan of the movie, you need to have this too.

Sounds like you've got great kids! I don't have the Limited Collector's Edition, but my husband and I (and even our sons, on occasion) have enjoyed the A&E Pride and Prejudice many times. I love the music as well, and often listen to the CD while I'm reading!

I have the Special Edition DVD from a few years ago. Does the Limited Collector's Edition have different making of the movie footage? Mine says it has a "Behind-the-Scenes Featurette: The Making of Pride and Prejudice." I am just wondering if it is worth buying the new one. The book sounds interesting.

#3: Does the Limited Collector's Edition have different making of the movie footage? Mine says it has a "Behind-the-Scenes Featurette: The Making of Pride and Prejudice."
----------------------

The description reads:

"Bonus Disc: step inside this landmark miniseries with a behind-the-scenes documentary on the origins and making-of Pride and Prejudice as well as the Jane Austen episode from the Emmy Award-winning BIOGRAPHY series." Elsewhere on the package, it describes it as "a 3rd bonus DVD featuring a new documentary on Jane Austen from the Emmy Award-winning BIOGRAPHY series and an exclusive 10-year retrospective documentary about the making-of the classic production."

I also note that Disc One: episodes 1-3 also has "Disc Features: behind-the-scenes featurette: the Making of Pride and Prejudice" and Disc Two: episodes 4-6 also has "Disc Features: Jane Austen Text Biography/bibliography, cast biographies/filmographies."

I haven't had a chance to watch all this bonus material yet, so I can't describe what the differences are between these similar sounding things. I would expect that a some of this material is a reworking of stuff you already have.

Hope that helps.

#3 Thanks Nickelini!

I don't think it may be worth buying, but I may put it on my Christmas list.

This is my all time favorite movie!

I have the special Edition DVD but its not the 10th Anniversary Edition! :(

The companion book was previously available on Amazon, and I was even thinking of buying it a while back, tho of course, I forgot all about it! I guess they combined the movie and the book. Awesome! Oh well...... my DVD is all scratched from watching it so many times... I guess I'll just have to buy a new copy (there's a ready made excuse to get the 10th 'versary edition!) yey!
