Welcome! Glad you decided to join us.
FYI, we've added a couple of wikis to the mix this year. The first is where we keep important threads. The second is the Threadbook where we have a directory to all the members' threads. Both help keep a handle on the chaos! :)

Thanks, Mark. Joe has told me all about you. I hope you're staying warm today - it's pretty bitter here in Chicago. Happy New Year!

Welcome, Walklover! I'd love to see what you are reading. I hope Joe isn't keeping you too busy in the kitchen at Joe's Cafe. ;-)

Becca and I are doing an online reading program through We Give Books to help a school where she student taught get 500 new books for their library. So here's what I read today -
Henry and the Valentine Surprise by Nancy Carlson
Little Dog Lost by Monica Carnesi
Happy Birthday in Dragon Wood by Timothy Knapman
My Mother is So Smart by Tomie dePaola
Baby Max and Ruby by Rosemary Wells
Also, Joe gave me a wonderful book for my birthday - 1001 Children's Books You Must Read Before You Grow Up by Julia Eccleshare. It's terrific - has given me lots of ideas for books to read, has reminded me of wonderful books I've already read - and the reproductions of the covers are amazing!

I have 1001 Children's Books You Must Read Before You Grow Up, and I love it too. I use it for ideas when we're on our way to the library (although there are a lot of books in there that my library doesn't have).
What did you think of The Violets of March? It keeps popping up as a book that other people bought when they were buying some of my recent purchases.

Hi Amy - Sorry for the delay in my response. I've been using 100Books... to find ones I haven't read yet - lots of fun.
I enjoyed the The Violets of March. I thought the characters were very well developed and I loved the setting. Let me know what you think after you've read it. Just started The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - recommended by my writing group and well reviewed everywhere.

Can't wait to hear what you think of The Fault in Our Stars, Ms. D. How are things going getting ready for the "Louder Than A Bomb" events?
20walklover
Finished The Fault in Our Stars last night, Mr. J. I really liked it. I thought the dialogue was very authentic - and liked the way the characters dealt with their "fates". I would definitely recommend it.
Things are very busy at Louder Than a Bomb - will be volunteering there most of Fridy and Saturday - all events those two days are at the Cultural Center in downtown Chicago.

Ah, glad to hear you liked The Fault in Our Stars. It sounds intriguing. Of course, now I've gotten myself tied up in other books, but I look forward to reading that one.
I forgot you'll be at LTAB on Saturday - we'll discuss. Maybe I'll swing by the Cultural Center after work.

>20 walklover: Glad TFiOS found another fan. :)
23walklover
I really did, Micky. Joe says we have some more John Green in our personal library, so I'm going to give them a try at some point soon.
24MickyFine
My second favourite after TFiOS is An Abundance of Katherines but really, they're all good. :)

I'm slowly working my way through 1001 Children's Books, and enjoying it very much!

Yay Mom!
28walklover
Just finished my second John Green - Paper Towns - and loved it. Plan to read more of his work in the next month or two.
29MickyFine
Yay! If you like John Green's novels, you might want to try the vlog he does with his brother, Hank. Vlogbrothers is thoroughly entertaining. :)

Hmm, someone hasn't been here for a while. But I know she's reading a ton. Not sure what to make of it.

#20: I have The Fault in Our Stars home from the library now. I hope that I like it as much as you did, Debbi!

Okay, I just made the connection that you are Joe's wife!! :)
It's so awesome that LT is a family affair for you guys.
I'm just a bit curious since I'm married to a guy who doesn't think reading is a hobby..haha! Do you and Joe share similar reading tastes or are they very different?

That I am! Joe and I both love to read mysteries (he actually introduced me to my first mystery), but he enjoys reading those set in other countries much more than I do. As well, we share a love of YA. I'm not a very big sci fi or fantasy reader - and you know how much he loves his sci fi and fantasy.

Hey, there she is! Good to see you on Librarything. That husband of yours sounds like a great guy.
So, what have you been reading and liking lately?

LOL, you guys remind me of when I was working in the same company with my husband. We would message each other throughout the day, even though we saw each all day and then went home together...haha!
It's nice you share some common books and then it's nice to like completely different things as well. Keeps the conversations lively. ;)

One of the books I'm reading right now is Navaho Code Talkers by Nathan Aaseng. As Joe knows, I have always been fascinated by the subject and
the people. Not sure what else I'm going to read along with it - probably Lost in Shangri-La by Mitchell Zuckoff.

Hi Debi- I haven't been by in awhile. I see you are reading some interesting books. The Navajo Code Talkers sounds like something I would like and I loved Lost in Shangri-La.
