Thanks. I misread the article. Or maybe I need new glasses! Seriously, I read the thing a couple of times looking for what was "free"!

Although I think technically, you can only say it's free if you get it without having to pay for anything at all. Otherwise it's "included". So in this case, I'd say that if you buy a digital subscription to The New York Times, a Nook Simple Touch is included at no extra cost. But I am splitting hairs, I guess.

I saw an article about free devices with a subscription months ago. This isn't the first one on offer. That one, IIRC, was for a Philadelphia newspaper subscription and the e-reader was not a well-known brand.
