Cowboys and Aliens

I approached this book as a Western, but realized that it actually was more of a romance novel than a Western, with some monsters thrown in. The protaganist had almost as much angst as Bella of the Twilight series, so even though this has "cowboys" in the title, and there are horses and six-shooters and Apaches and a posse of sorts, I would not recommend it as a Western. The author also got some subtle, but important details, wrong. For instance, someone who does not want to be noticed would not ride on the ridgeline, which Jake (the hero) does to avoid conversation with others. And don't get me started on the typos, spelling errors, grammar issues, etc. Anyway, this is not recommended if anyone was considering wasting time on it. My review gives it a poor rating.

Some of us have been spoiled by reading Westerns that were based upon what really happened.

It makes me smile to see movies with so-called "wise" people sitting around a blazing inferno of a campfire, staring at the flames. Uh oh...

Oh yeah! The Apaches had a fire so big, they could burn a body in it! Uhm, no. Even today, my in-laws make small fires, except for certain special occasions.

Well, maybe the film was better than the book in this instance. ;-)
