Readers Theatre

Teachers, I've been looking around for good Readers Theatre scripts on a variety of topics, but especially related to life science lately. I noticed that tags are helpful for finding books. If you know of good Readers Theatre books, add them to your library and tag them.

I found some of my favorites are from Scholastic Professional Books... if I can find the titles of them, I'll let you know! (I made copies out of another teacher's book!)

I too am looking for good Reader's Theater books. I am a student of elementary education K-3ish reading children's books on all topics. Reader's Theater is one of my tags. When I tag a book it is because it has distinct characters, preferably a little dialogue, and a short, relatively easy plot to remember. Common fairy tales such as "The three little pigs" are best because the students hear them over and over again in various forms and if they are not yet strong readers, they can improvise the parts they can't read. I don't have many tags right now, but I'm constantly adding books.

My version of readers theater is a puppet theater where one student narrates using the book and the other manipulates the puppets.

Do you know these books: You Read to Me, I'll Read to You By (author) Mary Ann Hoberman? They are wonderful!

Click, CLack, Moo is a great addition to reader's theater. Appropriate for early grades or middle school.
