I started The Eye of the Storm yesterday. Its the first Patrick White I've read or some years. So far I'm very impressed. The style is more straightforward than the High Modernism of Voss. There are also sex scenes - I seem to remember reading somewhere White quoted as saying he did not like novels which described all the 'messy bits' of love and desire, which made him sound very prissy, but this is certainly not the case with this novel.
As many group members would know, there is a film version of the novel, due for release this year, with Charlotte Rampling, Judy Davis and Geoffrey Rush in the lead roles.
