Before spending hard-earned coin on a book, it's good to know if it's the best translation. There are some titles here that have conflicting reviews of the translation.

Which translation would you recommend of these titles:

Philosophical Investigations by Ludwig Wittgenstein

Institutes of Christian Religion by John Calvin

The Divine Comedy by Dante

I was wondering about the Commedia too. Tim Parks's review at the New Yorker of the translation by the Hollanders was favorable.

"The Hollanders’ translation is a welcome addition, and, when one comes to all these versions fresh from a rereading of the original, it seems the most accessible and the closest to the Italian."
