Hello all! New here, but I hope you don't mind if I get straight to it:
It looks as if I'm going to Bad Gastein in Austria this summer. Nowadays it's mostly known for skiing and hiking, but back in the day It was one of the prime health resorts of europe, famous for its baths and royal patronage. The village is (apparently) full of beutiful Belle Époque-era hotels and bridges.
So I would be very grateful if anyone could recommend any books to read in while there. I'm thinking resorts, hotels, fin-de-siècle-europe, remote villages... something to give me a taste of the place in it's heyday.
And, yes, I've already read The Magic Mountain ... =)
