I have always been fascinated by spiders. As this seems a very nice topic of collection, I was wondering of someone has an idea about date and titels of the oldest books on spiders? Written in Latin, English,...?

I have The Life of the Spider (1913)- it's interesting and attractively bound - and introduced by Maurice Maeterlinck, and translated into English by Alexander Teixeira de Mattos (The translator of Maeterlinck, Louis Couperus, etc.). Insect Transformation by George H. Carpenter is the only antiquarian book that I can recall coming across close to that topic. The copy that I saw was published in the 1890s and was a 2nd edition.
