Yesterday we launched our online companion to the forthcoming two-volume collection, American Science Fiction: Nine Classic Novels of the 1950s. You'll find new appreciations of the novels by Michael Dirda, Neil Gaiman, William Gibson, Nicola Griffith, James Morrow, Tim Powers, Kit Reed, Peter Straub, and Connie Willis. Also reprinted on the site, in full, are five hard-to-get "Change War" stories by Fritz Leiber.

We'll be posting updates and inviting discussion on the new LOA science fiction page on Facebook:

http://www.facebook.com/AmericanScienceFiction

The books are arriving from the printer in about 2 weeks and will be in bookstores at the end of September.

On a separate note, I've devised a simple link that lists all LOA e-books issued to date:

We have (optimistically, perhaps) 25 more e-book titles planned for the upcoming year, and this link will automatically update with new titles as they are available.

Great site! I'm looking forward to reading these individual essays - what a great idea to help promote the volumes (which I'm looking forward to even more.)

Those jackets are fantastic-- great design. What color are the volumes if you get the subscriber copies?

I just read Double Star and The The Space Merchants. I had read them both before and I have read Double Star at least several times. I had only read The Space Merchants once and I remember I didn't like it. I didn't like it this time either. The anthology does have some other good titles and it works out to about $7.00 a book at subscriber rates.
