What are we reading in August?

I'm starting off the month with The Iron Wyrm Affair by Lilith Saintcrow, my June ER win.

A Natural Woman by Carole King. Will be starting Half of a Yellow Sun soon.

At the moment reading The Mysterious Lady Law and The Eight .

I'm reading On What Grounds, Hermann Goring and the Nazi Art Collection, and getting ready to start Suttree later this evening. I'm still listening to The Arms Maker of Berlin.

I am currently reading The Cotton Queen by Pamela Morsi, a pretty good read that deals with Mother/Daughter relations. I am also about to start my ER read 22 Accessible Road Trips.

I'm about to start on the August portion of Don Quixote and have made a start on several others including Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro and The Prisoner of Heaven by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.
Finished the audio version of Iain Banks' Stonemouth which I really enjoyed.

Finished fire season & holes and started delay by Tim Krabbe

I've started Broken Harbor. It's moving along slowly....

I've finished The Bobbsey Twins, Death Tidies Up, Murder Over Easy, and A Shilling for Candles. I'm currently reading The Fifth Servant and will likely begin Death at Dartmoor and The Copper Beach in the next couple of days.

I am still reading Broken Harbor in conjunction with Moll Flanders and Middlemarch.

almost finished dark mountain issue 2 and am wondering what to read next

I've been reading the stories in Down These Strange Streets edited by George R. R. Martin and Gardner Dozois. I've also started A Game of Thrones. For nonfiction I'm going to read a couple more sections in The Age of Wonder this week.

I've still been in a funk about work and nothing I was reading was holding my interest, so I pulled a cozy off the shelf yesterday to take my mind off things. Read Hangman's Root by Susan Wittig Albert. Might try to find something else instead of going back to the others.

I'm reading Julia and the Master of Morancourt by Janet Aylmer.

Zipped through The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

I am starting The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss and it's such a chunkster that I expect I'll be reading it for some time to come. I've also picked up Tall Poppies by Louise Bagshawe to read for the monthly TIOLI challenge.

got my May ER book in the mail today - The Garden of Happy Endings so will be starting that next.

Awaiting the arrival of my copy of Broken Harbor (can't wait!) and in the meantime reading Rankin's The Impossible Dead to get ready for the next book in the series - a Rebus/Fox-combo!!

I'm almost finished Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel, but real life is taking time away that I would rather spend reading. I've read the first few pages of Middlemarch and will give it my full attention soon.

At 200 pages in, I am finding myself deeply engrossed in Cormac McCarthy's Suttree. Wow, can he write!

Just started deadkidsongs by Toby Litt

I finished Sovereign by C.J. Sansom and am halfway through Love Songs from a Shallow Grave by Colin Cotterill which will complete this series for me. Hopefully there are one or two more to come.

I'm revisiting Jane Austen's Emma yet again.

I'm reading Whispers Underground by Ben Aaronovitch, The Family Fang by Kevin Wilson and on audio, The Prefect by Alastair Reynolds.

I'm reading Medicus and listening to Death Comes Silently. I'm slowly working my way through Hermann Goring and the Nazi Art Collection and Suttree.

Needed a break from non-fiction, so started reading Fractured by Karin Slaughter. Forgot how much I enjoyed her books.

I technically have four books going, but find myself unable to read anything except Middlemarch.

I've regrettably finished the Dr. Siri stories and will keep an eager eye out for new ones. I also read an amazing YA book based on the life of Arnchron-Pond, a survivor of the Killing Fields. My first 5-star read of the year.

Let's see: I'm reading Middlemarch off and on, The Drop, and Moll Flanders.

Still reading The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, and I am also going to start A Shilling for Candles by Josephine Tey today.

I'm currently on my TIOLI read for the month, Justice, and since it's very different (at least in the beginning) from the others in the series, I'm intrigued to see where it's going.

I was archiving finished books on my Kindle when I found The Art of War which I downloaded after reading The Drowned Cities. A quick read, it fits into my cloassics category.

I've started Kill You Twice by Chelsea Cain.

Just started The One Facing Us for the Reading Globally theme read and also listening to Falling Glass which I have high hopes for (maybe that's not a good thing, though...).

I'm reading Sarah Addison Allen's Garden Spells. I love her books!

I just finished Finding Amelia by Ric Gillespie, about Amelia Earhart's disappearance and the failed search and rescue effort. I've started The Heart of Danger by Gerald Seymour.

I'm joining Victoria in reading Kill You Twice Gretchen's back! I'm also reading Middlemarch.

I had to put Broken Harbor on the back burner, it just wasn't holding my attention. I'm sure that's temporary as I can't imagine being disappointed in a Tana French novel.

I finished my ER book The Garden of Happy Endings (although I haven't written my review yet) and am now reading A Romance on Three Legs: Glenn Gould's Obsessive Quest for the Perfect Piano.

I'm reading Blotto, Twinks and the Ex-King's Daughter by Simon Brett.

I downloaded The Gingerbread House this morning and am reading it. I'm hooked on Nordic crime! I'm also trying to finish While I Was Gone.

I've started Empire of the Sun by J.G. Ballard.

Last night I started Bring up the bodies and this morning began the concluding book in the Touchstone trilogy, Winter wood. Also have The whispering muse and Owls do cry on the go.

I'm finishing up The Legate's Daughter by Wallace Breem, and am about to start The Firemaker by Peter May.

After reading the first in the series and loving it, I'm on to the second, Death of a Hollow Man - very much recommending Chief Inspector Barnaby to anyone!

I've just begun G. K. Chesterton's Manalive.

I've decided to put The Firemaker aside for now, and have instead picked up Stone Song: A Novel of the Life of Crazy Horse. We are leaving on vacation in a couple of days and one of the places we are planning on visiting is the Crazy Horse Memorial in South Dakota, so I thought this book was the better choice for right now.

I picked up The Redeemer, so I figured I was meant to further my Harry Hole adventures.

I have a bookmark in it, but I think I will start at the beginning again, if memory serves me correctly, I was reading this last year around the holidays.

I'm almost due for the next Harry Hole novel.

Went away with my husband for the weekend and took Julia's Chocolates by Cathy Lamb and started Juliet in August on my nook. Now I need to catch up on some reviews and finish some of what I have started.

I read the first volume of the Sandman series Nocturnes & Preludes and am working on Railsea and Moby Dick.

Just finished Gift from the Sea and The Coroner's Lunch. Now on to Half of a Yellow Sun (finally!) and Flaubert's Parrot.

I had planned on saving Kill You Twice until I had finished Middlemarch, but I somehow find that while I'm only halfway through Middlemarch, I'm also solidly into Kill You Twice. Not sure how that happened. One thing I've noticed though, is that Chelsea Cain does not mess around. At all.

Hah, trying to resist the latest Archie and Gretchen adventures are futile!

I'm supposed to be reading Middlemarch also, but I keep getting distracted with other books. Right now I'm being held captive by The Redeemer, I can't help it.

I was making pretty good progress in Shadow Country but just hit a section that isn't really captivating me. Might have to pick up an easy re-read and come back to it. Also listening to The Red Chamber on audiobook, and despite some trouble keeping track of the characters, I'm pretty engrossed. Hopefully I'll finish it at work tomorrow.

I'm just starting A Brush with Death. I need a light palate-cleanser after finishing The Heart of Danger, which was probably the worst reading experience I've had this year.

Yes, after a real stinker, it's imperative to choose a book you know will be good. Hopefully, it's also your last terrible book of the year.

I just finished No One You Know, a very good literary mystery set mainly in San Francisco. I've started Stamping Grounds and, since I'm in the mood for something lighter today, I've pulled out Murder Past Due.

I've started on Marooned by Martin Caidin.

I'm over halfway through Middlemarch and I'm also reading August by Gerard Woodward. I'm tempted to begin The Code by G.B. Joyce, my Early Reviewer book for last month because it is a hockey thriller.

I finished Juliet in August and am going back to A Romance on Three Legs. I need to back up and finish some of what I've started before I start any new ones (tempting as that is)

I should start my current LTER-book, Skarlet, but will most likely squeeze in my next Inspector Barnaby-book, Death in Disguise, before that.

Reading Small Island by Andrea Levy and an ER book Darwin's Ghosts: the secret history of evolution by Rebecca Stott.

I'm reading Son of the Shadows by Juliet Marillier. It's been ages since I read Daughter of the Forest, but so far I'm not having trouble following along.

Oh boy, I went to the library to pick up The St Zita Society and also picked up Dexter by Design and The Dogs of Riga.

But right now I am almost finished with More Twisted a clever group of stories all with ironic twists which are great!
