I am working on a project dealing with an early 19th century doctor who had a bit of a disagreement with statements in the C. F. Volney book A View of the Climate and Soil of the United States of America. In order to explain why both men's views are as simplistic as they were I need to know the state of meteorology in the first decade of the 19th century.
So far I have found Catalog of meteorological instruments in the Museum of History and Technology which I can read on line but deals only with the state of instruments not the state of the science and Meteorology in America, 1800-1870 which I have ordered off of ABE because that is quicker than inter-library loan and, well, because I am a book addict but that is another story.
Does anyone know of another work on the subject?
