He did a good job of convincing the reader that the story really did span a thousand years. A lot happens through the many generations of humans aboard.

I met Kevin a few times in New Haven decades ago. A lively smart guy and very friendly, but if you wanted to send him into a rant, claim you thought he was K M O'Donnell.

I lived in New Haven 1974-1982, but I wasn't involved in SF fandom then, and didn't have the pleasure of meeting him. IIRC, he wrote a novel wherein the big mall in the city center gets destroyed. I might have that somewhere, still...
