Via Locus. I read, and recommend, his excellent Mayflies, a 1,000 year space voyage told from the viewpoint of the brain-in-a-vat that runs a generation spaceship.

Neat concept, pretty original!

He did a good job of convincing the reader that the story really did span a thousand years. A lot happens through the many generations of humans aboard.

I was much less impressed with the first novel of the Journeys of McGill Feighan series, didn't read the rest.

I met Kevin a few times in New Haven decades ago. A lively smart guy and very friendly, but if you wanted to send him into a rant, claim you thought he was K M O'Donnell.

ChrisRiesbeck,

I lived in New Haven 1974-1982, but I wasn't involved in SF fandom then, and didn't have the pleasure of meeting him. IIRC, he wrote a novel wherein the big mall in the city center gets destroyed. I might have that somewhere, still...

bookstothesky,

Well, I'm old enough to be seeing a great many of my favorite writers dying off, and I like to take notice when they go. Locusmag.com is good about noting these departures.

> 6 Too bad you didn't get a chance to enjoy the New Haven Science Fiction and Fantasy Association (NHSFFA, officially pronounced "Fred") in its prime.
